Hiyall, first time poster and new owner of a 94 sierra 1.3!
Picked up this car pretty cheap in rough condition but it was a runner.
Has had a new radiator, thermostat, and aftermarket 4psi fuel pump installed by previous owner.
Car starts, however it has some issues.
Cold start is not instant, it will crank indefinitely but only start after I let off the starting position on the key. Once started the idle is high around 3k. I believe this is the cold start. It takes a long time (15-20 mins) idling like this to warm up, with the temp needle about 1/3 up the temp guage (not sure if this is normal?)
Here's the weird part. If I shut off the car once hot, it wont start again unless I hold the throttle wide open, and once again crank and let off the starter. It will then gurgle and run rough as the revs slowly climb (i have to hold full throttle the whole time or it dies). Once it revs past about 4k it will clean up and idle and run well. It will do this every time i hot start.
I have run some carby clearner through it and that made it run much smoother but havent pulled the carby apart.
No apparent vacuum leaks (checked with aerostart around intake and carb etc)
all cylinders comp at 180psi which seems ok?
Any tips would be a great help!
thanks

I'm 90% sure its Carby issues from what you describe, rebuild or new Carby.

The carby must be rebuilt by a professional. try swaping 2 & 3 leads over and getting it to backfire. put metho in tank and carby. redline it and choke by hand.
bye

Check/clean/replace the connector powering the coil. After replacing the connector mine burst into life, then I could do the timing which was WAY out and tighten/replace rocker screws and set valve clearances.
If it doesn't fix the issue - you have removed those variables.
Good luck.
