Gidday,
In one of my less clever moments while removing the exhaust from my 95 h20a manual escudo I dropped the exhaust without disconnecting the sensor in the cat which I thought was an o2 sensor, but the parts book tells me is a thermofuse. No idea what the difference is but that's not the issue.
Clearly the wire broke a couple of inches from the sensor but I'm buggered if I can find the other end of the wire to reconnect it!
From the pattern of the flexible loom holder clips I suspect the wire goes across to the left side of the box, then up to the loom on top of the box to plug in somewhere there. I haven't found a stray wire there after an extremely thorough man-look (must get my wife to look for me), but I can't see where else it could go. Am I correct that this is where it connects into the cars electrical system?
Obviously it's giving me a check engine light after a few minutes of driving and I think it's punishing me with a bit extra fuel consumption too. I certainly deserve it...
Any help to get me out of my self induced problem much appreciated!

As far as I know, the only thing the thermo-fuse does is open circuit when overheated, and, again, as far as I know, they don't say the check engine light, they have their own warning light, and last,
again, as far as I know, the thermo-fuse is only fitted to the JDM production, good luck finding anyone with documentation and/or experience on those.

I'm going to suggest that if you have a check engine light you start by reading the code rather than guessing - all you need is a paper clip and the check engine light.

Excellent, I had been thinking I should check for codes but had no idea how to go about it. That's a great link you posted.
Heading outside now to see what info the car can provide...
Assuming you're correct about the thermofuse not setting off the CEL, it's possible the wire was broken beforehand and the other end removed, leading to my difficulty in working out where the heck it goes to. Regardless thanks for the information.

Well that was a good lead.
Code 13 came up. Oxygen sensor. Given code 26 is RH oxygen sensor presumably means code 13 is the LH.
I'm off to get the correct socket and will swap them to see if the fault changes sides.
If they are swapped and there is now a fault on the right, and no fault on the left, is the LH code deleted and replaced by the RH code, or is there a process to clear the codes?

The attached pdf will provide a little more detail - it was taken from the H25a manual so the ECU pins will be different, I do have the manual for the export model with the H20a engine, but I can't guarantee it will be a better match to your vehicle than this one.

You can clear codes by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
