Hey All,

So have another issue with my Sierra. I can park on quite a steep hill, car in Neutral and foot off brake and it won't roll?

When driving it seems to pull its self up and is working against itself.

I have had the front brakes done, front wheel bearings are all god. Only a month ago I had the rear wheel bearings, axle seals etc done.

Any ideas?

Another issue, when the car warms up a bit it starts to miss and fart around. There is some creamy muck under the oil cap, could this be a head gasket or worse? I hope not, as this is the second motor in 12 months after a cracked block in the first.

Cheers,

Geoff

Is it in 4wd?

Hey Mate,

No it isn't in 4WD.

So when I got home I couldn't even push it down the driveway, felt like brakes were on.

Went back out hour later and could push it up the driveway and it rolled back down, like it had free'd up.

Cheers,

Geoff

Hey Mate,

No definitely not in 4WD. It was driving ok for about ten minutes, and then feels like it doesn't want to budge. Even on speedbumps etc have to give it some to get it moving, it's like the brakes are on.

When I got home, it wouldn't even roll down the driveway declined and took a lot of pushing to budge it the smallest distance. Come back an hour later, and I could easily push it up the driveway and it rolled back down with no resistance. It's getting really frustrating when combined with the missing and stuttering.

Cheers,

Geoff

Jack up one wheel at a time and check for brake drag.

I had a vitara that did something similar, fixed by flushing the old brake fluid out

Also sounds like you may have a blown head gasket or cracked head.

Thanks for the thoughts, I’ll take it back to the Brake workshop this week.

I would have thought that all the fluid was flushed when I had the last lot of work done, including new front and rear lines, rear shoes, cylinder etc.

Just went for a 15 minute drive, was all going good. Then it started missing and playing up.

Jacked it straight up as there was resistance when trying to drive\push it.

In neutral, no handbrake on, and could barely move any of the wheels. A pretty big effort to get them moving at all, and certainly wouldn’t spin. Had it on the driveway in neutral and about 15 minutes later you could push it and it rolled down the driveway.

Very frustrating.

Geoff

Certainly was an issue with the brakes.

Apparently the booster was full of fuel that was causing the issue. Now to find out why that is the case.

Cheers,

Geoff
