Hey guys,
Ive got a 94 vitara jlx and i want to get more ground clearance. I had a look over the weekend and i think it already has some sort of after market springs and maybe shocks. Im running 30s already but just want it to sit taller. So my question is, is there any springs and shocks i can put in from another car? Looking at cheaper alternatives to calmini or ome. Cheers guys. This is my lil tig

You can jam GV springs in there but it will ride terribly, have no droop and screw the alignment up.

looking at that I'd say carry less weight, and start there

Two inch body lift. 8)

Simple mod, and doesn't mess with alignment and overall suspension operation.

I don't think a body lift is going to do much for ground clearance ...

Cheers for the info guys. Another question? Whats involved in putting a manual out of a 97 jx lwb into a 94 jlx swb? Is it a bitch or what?

Hmm. It’s a messy swap. Doable, but a hassle. You’ll need the pedal box, console, diff gears. From memory the EFI vitaras (97) run a different extension housing on the manual to make the (4speed) auto and manual the same length, whereas the carby 5 speed and 3speed auto is shorter, so you’d have to do a fair bit of messing around.

I might be a bit off, it’s many years since I messed with swapping vitara driveline around, but there’s a fair bit of difference between the efi and carb models.

Obviously there’s also an inhibitor switch you need to eliminate, along with the TV unit on the driver’s strut tower.

I’d never swap an auto car back to manual, so I’m a bit biased, but your car looks pretty standard- why not just find a manual vitara (preferably EFi), or even better, an EFI auto and swap your tyres over?

The efi auto is sooooo much better than the manual. At everything, but especially off road and compensating for larger tyres.

Have had both and IMHO you'd be much better off sticking with the auto EFI. Much more betterer little jigger!

( Currently have a 94 EFI auto LWB )

Efi swb 94. im hearing that more and more you might have just changed my mind. I need to get the tps or throttle body replaced because its not running right and i think thats the main reason for wanting to go to manual (feel ill have more power)
