Hey has anyone ever done cape York in a lj81 I’m currently doing one up and was wondering what mods Do you think I will need does any one know a good alternator upgrade or of a type of fuel tank that can easily be modified to fit mines rooted Thanks for any help and tips you can provide Tom |

Took a brand new lj50 soft top to the tip found out about the "remove the rubber plugs from the floor in deep water" the hard way "floated and fell over" was funny though 80k all they from Melbourne and back we had a ball zinging all the way Just part of the adventure is getting there Crossed the Simpson twice with it did all the high country, Frazer island and went to Perth, Alice and back to Melb via Inaminka on the way back all with no A/C as it was not available anyway who needs it with the top down but thank god for the great little heater though in winter |

I had water over the bonnet of my 105 series on the OTT . so I would look at some sort of snorkel , |

Porsche have taken 911’s to the cape Mokes have gone to the cape Mazda took the very last 929 to the cape. Pretty sure some legends took an AU up there and did the river crossings. |

The OTT is a luck of the draw type of thing. Depends on what sort of wet the area had, depends on how early after the wet you go, depends on how many yahoos have been through before you, as to how deep & otherwise crossable the creeks are. Late July into early August last year, F10A converted & aftermarket sprung, but otherwise standard LJ81 tray + std SJ70 + G16A coverted (but otherwise std) SJ80 + SE & SQ Vitaras had no problems with depth of water - if you take a bit of time to work out the best lines & options. Tarp or similar over the front is a good idea. A snorkel is never a bad idea, even if only for the dust factor, but as long as the std ducting is present & in good nick, should (no guarantees though!) be ok. Unless you come to a stop in water at bonnet height, the electrics seem to have no issues either. Be prepared for water entering the cab though, so keep anything valuable or water sensitive up high or in sealed lunchbox type containers. Have fun, Rgs, Michael |

Hey does anyone know how to put new gearbox oil in a lj gear box and what oil should I put in it and what diff and transfer case oil should I use thanks Tom |
