Hay guys, wondering how any ones attach a roof cage? Either by welding brackets then bolting to the roof or any other ideas??

And also how straight forward is extending the stock bumper brackets and any info on them?

Thanks guys

Roof racks should clamp to the gutter rail.

To lift the bumpers a piece of flat bar with holes to suit the lift and the original mounting holes

So true - there's a vertical seam at the edge of the roof so that the water on the roof drains either forwards or backwards - you can either weld a bracket to that seam or maybe drill it and bolt to that.

Take a look at the Low Range Off Road website - they offer a couple of roof racks with mounts that attach to the roof panel - the installation instructions can be downloaded - you may be able to fab something similar.

There are 'universal' type kits, than involve screwing / pop-riveting tracks to the roof panel, which then accept lateral bars.
Roof rack + Vitara = tricky / messy / not easy, but people have overcome - limit what you want to put up there though.
