I am not keen to run 31s on my sierra because they are so wide and not very economical and so now i have heard about these light truck tyres and i think they will be better suited for what i want. Now i need to try and get 16" rims for my sj70 sierra does any one now what i have to tell the tyre joint to get rims that will work with these tyres. Thanks

750-16 tyres are around 10 ply and will weigh more then any 31" radial tyre so are very unsuited to a light car

Don't listen to Shep :) , 7.50 16s are great on a Sierra. Rims are the biggest problem, 16x7s are too wide, you really need a 6 inch rim which are a bit hard to find, Vitaras had them but I think the offset was wrong. I run 7.50s of old LJ 4.5 rims, these are a fraction too narrow but still work well, LJ rims can be very hard to find. They are zero offset and I still hit the springs on full lock with 25mm spacers.

Also have a look at 235/85s which are similar in size.

Aside from initial purchase cost, you'l probably find 7.50/16s aren't any more economical because they tend to weigh a metric fuck ton. Aggressive ones are usually 12 ply + because they're normally used in mines or by farmers where puncture resistance is very important.

Though not necessarily legal, you can squeeze 7.50/16s onto LJ/16" 1l rims.

The metric equivalent, 235/85r16 (roughly 32/9.5") has a wider range of patterns and will fit on GV rims. The offset will be wrong but you could make up for that with wheel spacers.

Steve125s Sierra on 750/16 Goodyear HiMiler Xtragrips on comercial 1l wheels. You can get these tyres ex military for quite cheap, they're 8 ply.

This one had 750/16 SATs on modified 2WD F100 wheels.

Thanks for your help guys and do you think i will be better off with 31s since i am not keen on wheel spacers.
What i had in mind with these tyres was that since they are tall and narrow they wouldnt scrub on the leaves but since rims are such an issue i may have to give it a miss unless anyone has any suitable ones for sale.

You could always get 750x15 if you want tall skinny tyres. I have 750x15 tyres on stock sierra rims on my trailer they are about 30.5" tall

Check out Simex M/P Trekkers. I have a set waiting for my gear reduction. They are about as aggressive as you can get and remain road legal.

They are like the baby sister to the Centipedes. They even have a centipede picture on the side wall, making me think the M/P stands for millipede :P
