just wondering if anyone on here has tried a beach launch with a jimny or sierra? I've got a feeling that my boat may be a tad to heavy (around 750kgs) for my jimny to snig it up on to the sand. as my car tows the boat alright on the road when there is no hills, im getting more confident in trying a beach launch but don't want to get stuck on the beach.

That sand looks pretty hard , I wouldn't be concerned.

I beach launched my boat at least 4 times a week for two years and only got bogged 3 times. Every time I got bogged was at the bottom of a 0.1 tide and after a barge had chopped up the beach at high tide. Was always easy enough to get out which was good seeing as there was 4m tide movement where I lived.
I also owned a landcruiser but didn't trust it as much as my sierra to launch the boat.

If you get stuck with a incoming tide just refloat ya boat and unhook the trailer and you should be able to drive out.

My boat is 1000kg and this is the worst I got stuck

id probably let a bit of air out of the trailer tires so they have a bit more surface area and call it good. if you go in prepared for the worst with tyres already down a bit you would have to be pretty unlucky to get stuck.

Another good trick is a front rolling wheel, allowing you to unhitch and "snatch" the trailer up from higher ground.

Like dis:

shep cos it dose get a bit of swell in that spot ill have to snig the boat up the beach only like 5 meters. then we put the car in neutral and winch the boat back on the trailer. well that picture is dead low tide which i don't think id have a problem with but mid tide is where the soft sand and we get the swell pushing in. but if your sierra had no dramas. ill give it a crack with the jimny!

I always had the means to self recover, I reckon it's important to have a idea what you will do if it goes to shit. Where I launched there was a fuel thing at the high tide mark that the barges pumped fuel to the power station, anyway if I got proper stuck I was just going to use it as a winch anchor.

I use my jimny to launch the boat now and haven't had a issue however I now live 300km from the ocean so don't beach launch anymore. The boat ramps are shit here but so it's still a challenge to stick it in.

how does the zook go towing the boat? like how is fuel consumption? have you had it on soft sand towing? and what motor is in it?

good, 14l/100 on 30x9.5's with 2" bL and 3" spring lift. fine with sand on boatraps but havnt taken it on the beach, 1.3 with vvt auto transfer so 27-32% reduction.
boat is a 4.6m quintrex with a 60hp honda 4 stroke. usualy packed heavily not sure of exact mass. not sure i want to know.

What he said ^^ except my boat is a 5m with 100 yamaha. I won't tow over 80kph but only as my trailer has over ride mechanical brakes. Would be a lot better with electric brakes

I have heard it isn't to bad a practice to jack knife your trailer in the soft sand so when you take off you can get a bit of momentum before taking all the weight of boat and trailer

Is that second pic Brooms Head?

If so ive launched and revived a 425 tinnie with a 40hp on the back there a few times with no trouble at all with a stock sierra. the sand is quite firm, low range second gear you'll be fine. If not the locals are usually there with tractors if you needed help. Its a beautiful spot there, good fishing too. il be heading there in about two weeks.

narh mate plomber bay just north of port macquarie NSW, i have launched and retrieved boats there before just not in the jimny. one of the pros have a tractor for his boat if i got stuck, but i just didnt wanna look like an idiot bogged on the beach like this guy
