Ok, I am new to this 4x4 stuff and after some info on the whole locker deal. I have owned a mini spooled Holden HJ V8 and also owned a Detroit. Great fun but not suited to the Jimny. I know there are quite a few types of lockers and am leaning toward an ARB setup as I already have a compressor. A recent play in the dirt taught me that the rear diff is generally a single spinner and the front diff didn't really do much however I did get to test out its limitations and to be honest, did better than I expected. So, what would be better to lock first? Front or rear? Is there a tight LSD option that I can do for either front or rear? Cheers |

i would learn to drive it without lockers first. jimnys have a bad enough tendancy to put them selves on their lids without lockers. inexperiance and lockers dont mix |

I can appreciate that and have vehicle sympathy. I have done a decent amount of off road work with work (locked and normal) and drivin a 4x4 of the small Jimny size is great and feels a lot more capable. Sounds stupid but is there maybe an option to get a tighter LSD center in them? I don't know what they have to be honest. |

LSD is available from Japan, but your looking at alot of $$$ if your set on a locker, lock the rear first with an airlocker, the front ends will require upgraded custom axles to not go kaboom |

What is a lot of $$$? More than an ARB locker? So locking the rear is the best option to start with first? I have read about the front ends being a touch fragile but are axles available for this? I know about the chromoly gear available for the IFS but wasnt sure if it was available for the solid axles? |

last i looked into it the LSd was about $800ish plus shipping from japan. you can get chromo axles from italy i think but they are not that great from all reports. Joeblow from JML (business section) will make them if you can get in contact with him. |

Thanks for the info. I might get in touch with ARB and get a price for the rear locker and look into the front options for a later project. LSD front could be a good option but will ask JML for ideas. Cheers for the lead. |

I agree, learn to drive without lockers, suzukis have a massive advantage over most every other 4x4 on the markets. 1. Size 2. Weight 3. Manoverability You can drop the tyre pressures a lot lower and get more bag out of the tread and get better grip and the. The size/ease of manoverability allows you to drive around most of the obstacles patrol and cruisers and the like have to go over. Lockers don't have any sympathy and will quite easily make you drive the vehicle onto its roof |

Was quoted around $1500 for a rear ARB fitted. I also asked about the Harrop electric locker but I don't think they make them for the Suzi. When I went for a drive the other day, I was impressed how well it drove and even climbed out of things that I didn't think it would get up. Single spinning was its biggest downfall |
