I got them apart fine and will be able to put it all back together. but I noticed they were shimmed so I'm trying to work why they were shimmed or are they all shimmed?

There needs to be a certain 'preload' on the bearings, The shims help set the correct setting.
The fish scales will give you the reading. Have a read through the FSM, Very clear.

There is your problem. Fitters replace components and mechanics rebuild components. If you are fixing bearings fitter style then ya need to buy a new assembled diff assembly and replace the lot. Mechanics can replace indervidual bearings. :wink:

There is your problem. Fitters replace components and mechanics rebuild components. If you are fixing bearings fitter style then ya need to buy a new assembled diff assembly and replace the lot. Mechanics can replace indervidual bearings. :wink:


You really need to define who you are talking about shep. A fitter is in maintenance and manufacturing, building and machining whatever is needed.

A bullbar fitter is not.
