Right so I have a 82 swb 1l with a 4k engine in it, basically has no pollution gear, no charcoal canister and no cat, I pretty sure there is a cut off date when you can get away with no cat but can't find it, did 1l come out with a cat? I know the wagon corollas with 4k's didn't.

From 01/01/1986 every car had a cat converter in Aus.

Not every car.....
Commercials and 4wds took a few years to catch up.
But that is beside the point.....
82 1.0 never had a CC neither did a Corolla with 4K/4Kc engine so, NO, you don't need one in your Sierra.
