Suzi has full power before 3.5k rpm, then above that it chokes and I have to change gear. This has just started happening after a service.. any ideas guys :?: :?: :? :? :?

What have you touched/fiddled with during the service, double check it all and see if its something you've done wrong. Then I'd be looking at the fuel filter.

It's weird like I said it has normal acceleration up to 3.5k rpm then it just chokes. Friend at work reckons it's something to do with the throttle or carby. Now it's happening when ever I put my foot completely down.. Service was just a minor at suzi auto tech springwood..

Sounds like a carby, secondary throat may not be opening.
Links and vacuum units can sieze up.
Hoses can split ot get pulled off.

Fuel starving maybe, lack of pump pressure, or fuel blockage. Filters?

What rpms does the secondary throttle open? how cheap are carby to efi conversions out of interest?

linkages open the 2nd via cable position and vacuum, not on rpm.
Though it would be in higher rpm as a guess.

Efi conversion is not easy,
need efi fuel tank, efi pump, high pressure fuel lines,
all the injection stuff on the head, computer and a ton of wiring.
Many people manage it, but if you new at it, could be daunting.
No idea what paying a shop would cost,
but buying a running efi engine in a car be cheapest way to get everything

how much for a carby rebuild? any estimates?

edit; could it just be the cable and just need loosening or tightening?

A minor carby kit cost me $40, 6years ago,
and 2 difficult days to rebuild the carby.
I imagine a reco job at a mechanic would be dear.
Springs and clips fly out, you need to watch where everything goes.
If it is a carby, try another 2nd hand one before spending heaps.
And make sure entire fuel system is clean.

i was quoted $400 for a drive in drive out carby rebuild, if your in a major city then i dont see why you cant get cheaper...

Pull the inlet fuel line off and check you are getting decent flow. If it happens any time you jump on the accelerator it might be that the motor isn't getting enough fuel for the accelerator pump and the fuel bowl. If it is fuel pump it will gradually get worse until it only idles and eventually nothing at all. Don't rekit the carby until you know it is the problem

KT did exactly the same thing, except it was 4k. Turned out to be a mud wasp nest in the air intake hose between the air box and the guard. Happened all of a sudden, it was stuck on the side and all was good, and when it fell off it almost totally blocked off the airflow. Cost me a fortune to find the problem, but I did get a tank clean, new fuel pump, new fuel lines and a carby clean though
