I want to tack up a bit of bar work while attached to the car, is disconnecting the battery enough to make sure I don’t fry any important bits (G16b Vit so I’m guessing the EFI has a computer or some tricky sparky shit lurking somewhere)?

I welded the plates for my widening onto the chassis with everything still connected (didn't even think about ECU  ) and all still fine.

Its good practice to disconnect the battery, or fit a surge resistor accross the battery terminals. Otherwise, there is little you can harm by welding on a car.
