hey guys, as the title says I have an oil leak hahah and i need a quick easy fix so i can get my car roadworthy. the oil has leaked all around the rocker cover on the engine like near the seal and also there is alot of oil on the gear box as well. i have degreased the rocker cover as well and have been for a bit of a drive and no oil seems to be coming out there, or maybe i havent driven long enough because there was definitely oil there to begin with just wondering if anyone has ideas on where it could be from because has spilt onto the gearbox as well. |

rear main seal too I'd say if its around the gear box. the bell housing has an opening at the bottom which gets a lot of crap in like sand that can make the rear main go, from what i've read. |

fully sick coily wrote: rocker cover gasket (it costs like $15) and its easy as to put in the same thing happened to me might be the case on a fully sick coily, but being a GV there will be 2 rocker cover gaskets if it's a V6 & a heap of shit to remove to get close to the rocker covers. |

That won't get oil up around the head though. But oil from a leaky rocker gasket could easily make its way to the gearbox |

Ben's GV is a 1.6 swb so there is a good chance that it could be the o ring on the dizzy running oil down to the gear box Ya best bet is to degrease everything down propally then keep an eye on it till you see where it is leaking from |

EDIT:, its only an SQ |

i fix oil leaks and inspect them all the time the problem is they can weep very slowly, just clean it get the road worthy and then everyday when ya get home use an led light nice and bright with the engine running give it a good check. also check your oil lebvels in engine and gearbox if easily done to see if ones dropping faster. oil can weep out then spread over alot of area making it hard to diagnose but the more you familiarise yourself with it and the components you will eventually get it. When it gets hot is best cause sometimes it doesn't leak unless hot at operating temperature. Also note the oils colour and smell to work out if its engine or gearbox. Hope that helps a little |
