Hi there I just picked up an 1981 stockman with a F10A motor smoking like a wild fire. I’m looking for a source of docs, manuals, factory service stuff etc. Is there an online library or an6 links anyone can send me? Thanks

(I can't help, I don't have a SJ410 FSM, but) For curiosity or in order to fix your engine? F10A's and parts are getting pretty hard to find in good condition now, whole engines are being produced economically in China and that's probably the best source. Rebuilding one with fresh parts isn't economically feasible. Unless you're very keen on a totally stock restoration, I'd consider a conversion to a G motor. It's probably cheaper than rebuilding an F10 and will result in a much better car.
Is it an LJ81 stockman with a F10A fitted in place of the F8A, or an SJ410 Sierra? SJ410's weren't referred to as "stockman." The "stockman" badge was reused on the Indian built Maruti MG410's in the early 1990's. I know it sounds like I'm being pedantic, but when you're looking for literature or FSM's it's going to make a difference.

Hi Marl62, If it is 1981, should be LJ81 - originally F8 = 800cc 4cyl powered, which sounds like it has been re-powered by the big block (no, not really - they are the same physical size) 1.0litre F10 found in the early SJ Sierras - 1981 to 1985 & as Steve mentions, the Indian built MG410 available in Aust during the early to mid 1990s. The 410 part of the model, refers to 4cyl, 1.0litre. It depends on your mechanical abilities (or budget) as to weather a conversion to G13 or G16 (from a later Sierra or Vitara, or a few other sources) is worth while - it's a fair bit more involved to fit a G motor into an LJ, than it is into a Sierra, but has been done before. A G motor will give you more power & an easy 5speed gearbox fit - so a win win - depending on what you want to use the car for - which shouldn't be a 100km round trip commute!.
No, I don't have any tech info on these LJ cars, but a few on here do. Good luck, Rgs, Michael
