Hey guys I installed my spotlights today, I know they are all wired up correctly because they turn on when I use the manual switch but only when the car is already turned on. When the spotties are plugged in though and I attempt to start the car it clicks over once then shuts down and I can't turn the key again. Would this just be that the spotties are draining all power? What are my options?

check the draw of them while they are on without the car running,.
than check the draw the car is producing while running without the lights off, (to make sure youy alternator is charging correctly).
turn the lights on and check the draw again.

this will determine if you have a failing alternator, or your spotties are draining a LOT of power.
also how old is the battery??
is the earth good.


the simple fix would be dont start your car with the spotties on.

That's my problem even with the manual switch off on the spotties it still won't turn over, the battery is only about 4 monts old. Ill do what you said though and check it out

have a geez in here,
and make sure you have them wired correctly.
long day and i cant seem to access my brain as to why having the spotlights plugged in would be stopping you from being able to start the car.
unless you have wired them wrong and have a constant circuit that is drawing to much power to allow the vehicle to start perhaps??

youve either flattened the battery stuffing around with the lights, or youve got a loose or dirty battery terminal.

Jump start it or charge the battery or something and youll be right, then go and read how to properly wire up lights so they come on with high beam
