The bumpstop I made was urethane 50mm dia/ 70mm tall and bolts to the lower spring mount. after installing longer rear shocks I noticed that on compression I was getting close to full coil bind on the spring also I was at almost full compression on the shock. I made a lower bumpstop that mates with the original upper rubber bumpstop to limit max compression.

The urethane is easy to work with, it was left over from a roof top boat loader i think. It was the perfect diameter to sit in the concave of the bottom spring mount, only had to drill 2 holes on the diff to mount them and cut the roller to lenght & set some bolts and lock nuts on a "shouldered" hole in the centre of the urethane...

It's a bit fiddly to get the nuts up in the coil mounts, if I did them again I'd get someone to zap some stiff wire onto a couple of nuts so there was something to grab onto rather than just reaching with ya fingers.

Had em done in an hour or so with measuring and checking.

The only thing I'd change is to round the top edge so it's not as sharp as it gets close the coil when flexing it up.

Depending on how big the bumpstop needs to be ARB list one for the front of the XL-7 that can be fitted to the front and rear of Vitara's.

Polar_Bear made up a few front bumpstop spacers, I don't have any pics of mine fitted so but here's a shot of his, I can't remember the lenght... maybe 50mm, hows ya memory Polar_Bear? This is with the OME front struts & Calmini strut spacers.

Nice Flex....

To get that much Flex, what did u do to the "A-Arm / Helm Joint" on the top of the rear Diff?
Did u install a spacer about 60mm in height ??

cheers

Hey Rob, the atari is running the Calmini Super Articulator kit with OME front struts & VT Commodore rear shocks, I've never played with the standard suspension/arms...

Yeah you'll need to meausre the distance between the bumpstops when compressed, it's a bit hard as the coil is in the way but you'll work it out... I'd look into the bu

Come on Saam tell them how you are about to do Dans.

Can also use Totota 4 Runner ( early 90) rear bump stops in your Vitara
just need to grind down the top of it to we level with the rubber at the top of the bump stop and dripp the hole out to suit a larger bolt need to fit the Vitata

it's part of the kit, I've seen someone off here or NBS make something similar up I think it was SP1086??

no reduction gears but I have changed the diff gears from 4.6:1 to 5.1:1 & yeah it's the 2.0l 4cyl

XL-7 front bumpstop extensions ARB part #FK28, most ARB stores have no idea ARB/OME make it.

The xl7 look like M12 fine?

Vitara/Jimny bumps are M10x1.25 (finethread)
Normal M10 bolts are M10x1.5

M10.

They cost about $35 for the pair, but you have to find an ARB sales rep that believes they actually exist.

Part No is FK28, they are part of the OME lift kit for the XL7.

won't you loose a bit of articulation when putting bum stops in? is the only reason for doing them is to stop tire scrub??

I'm doing to help with stability and to stop my tyres rubbing on the chassis bumpstop mounts.

Well i went to ARB, told them the part number, they found it in about 5mins 8O (just on a side note, Rockingham ARB are the most helpful ARB i've been to for our WA member's  ), BUT it was going to take them 2weeks for them to get here :( i really should of sorted them out about 6 months ago  , so i'll make my own at work tomorrow instead

All of the above plus stopping the shocks bottoming out and killing themselves. Depends which of the collision points happens first in a particular rig I guess.

The OME ones are simpler than I thought they would be, literally just machined lump of steel with a thread tapped into it and a 30mm bit of threaded rod. Just as well they were cheap!

After measuring up last night I reckon I need at least 70mm for the rears. Yet to have a look at the front.
