jimbo_jones wrote: make sure to put both motors on TDC and mark the pick up on a spot where you can line it up again on the 1600 when instaling it. Now line it up on your mark (if you miss judge it the timing will be out) and tap it on evenley with a punch. You should check the timing anyway, there is a resistor under the dash that is used to calibrate the ECU - that takes care of any variations in the engine. You can switch resistors to optimise the timing, the 1.6 has different base timing and mapping. |

thanks for the walk through, have read a few & every time something was quite vague but this seems to be the most thorough. i'm still keen to do the G16B swap, but the last engine i lined up turned out to be a 1.5 JDM unit. |

Having pulled the pressed timing cog off and putting back on, id prefer to just swap cam shafts. Too much a pita to get it back on exactly. Its easy to get a few degrees out on something so small. |

Thanks for the write up. I just finished my conversion. but decided to swap the cam over. I also had trouble finding a store that stocked 4PK930 belt as it had to be ordered in, I just want to confirm that the 4PK940 also fits and is on the shelf. What did you do about the brace that holds the intake to the engine mount on the 1300 . Did you use it on the 1600? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

what year baleno engine did you use ? did it originally have coil packs or a distributor ? i've just ordered my engine, hoping it has the correct lug on the end of the cam is all. |

sorry to pester you with more questions jimbo (have a feeling there may be a few of them :S ). the pick up cam lug on the end of the camshaft, did you pull these while the cam was still fitted to the motor (in the pics it appears you did) ? did you add some glue/sealer to the welds on your oil pick up after welding it (looks like you may have in the picks) ? were you a little worried about the porosity of the welds or something ? |

Great info thank's gentlemen, What is the oil change capacity now with this conversion? still the same as the Jimny engine due to using the Jimny sump? |

Alternatively you can cut 5mm off the lower lug on the block to make it sit flush |
