I had to use spacers on some bolts as the ring does not sit flush with the case, not a problem but you so need longer bolts on some holes?

Definitely need longer bolts for some of the holes.

can you run a rocktoy ring with out body lift ? because i think a read somwhere that it hits on the tunnle if you havent lifted the body. any advise on this? cheers fellas

i run mine with no BL... clears by a few mm =)

i have a 2inch bl
i tryed to lift the transfer 40mm it foud hard!

30mm transfer lift and it JUST clears.

wow rly? i used washers 2... worked well.. tighting without washers would put epic pressuer on the case! silly people

Hey guys roctoy ring showed up today, I'm just wondering if 3mm plate will be strong enough to brace my tcase arms and fussed the ring to the arms, only going to use 3mm because I have some laying around

I'm not but I am only going to tack it all up how I want it and get a friend who is a trade welder to finish weld it

Well wenever using lighter gauge materials as a strengthening medium, 'boxing' or ' closing' sections adds to their rigidity.

Putting folds or bends in it also gives strength when done correctly.

And I suppose you don't have access to any dimple dies? :lol:

Incorprated it with a Mighty kong and welded the two together, with a bit of wiggling the transfer case does still slip in and out

Always liked the roctoy but never understood how it works, my understanding, you weld it to your bracket, and it creates more fixings points for your tcase to fix to, thus spreading out the load of the case? Amiright?

yep basically thats it. But then the increased touque generated goes to the mounts. So if there not strong enough they will bend, causing the transfer case to twist. I assume this would destroy the output shaft.

Got my gears and roctoy ring. Will be doing something similar to Brendan ( above post) to transfer mounts. That seems strong enough for the driving il be doing. Nothing exteme.

Definitely need longer bolts for some of the holes. yeah i went all out and replaced all the bolts with 8,8's very over kill, but every bolt has a flat and a spring washer 2. i think i still have my bolt shoping list here somewhere.

OH and I also used quite a LOT of washers to make up for the spacer gaps in between the flat surface of the ring and the uneven bolt heights on the case. Ive seen a few cases where people have just tightened them up with no spacers..

Do you know the bolt sizes yous used. i got a mechanic mate doing mine, so il have to let him know before he puts it all back together and to space it where nessacary.

mines pretty similar to jimbos with a few flats running back down to the arms for strength. i used some of the longer bolts in place of the shorter ones when putting it back together using washer where packing was needed and the remaining ones i got 10mm longer bolts that whatever the longer ones allready were.Was over 2 years ago so dont remember length but they are M8

Agreed.. I run 50mm rubber blocks on mine.. and had to shave approx 20mm off the corners of the ring (had a lot of meat on them so taking that much off wasnt much of a problem.)

i have 2" bodylift. and lifted my case with some 65x35 rhs as 35s all i could go without the case hitting in a few spots SO.....one day ill notch some of the ring and go higher with the case

I run 2" Bl with 2" transfer lift and roctoy with extra plate, Reinforced original arms to look stock, but double the thickness. Shaved top of ring, and hammered/cleared floor tunnel for the sides. Link to the page in the build http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... &start=150

I used a couple of 2mm washers in one location to space the ring out (last hole on one end) but for the rest just gradually tightened up the bolts. The plate deforms plastically (ie doesn't try to spring back) and that's it - ring is formed to the correct profile. You can pull it off at that stage and it will hold it's shape ... I did for painting and welding.

I wish dimple dies are so I was thinking of use the 3mm to box the long arm and strengthen the short are and getting some 6 to gusset the ring back to the arm?
