Look! I found useful information on the internet :helloo:

While trying to stalk somebody to prove a point I found the the real code of practice that mod plates are handed out against in QLD is available on the QLD DOT website, I dont know if its always been there or its new but ive never seen its location being discussed on any forums or reference to it being made other than buy it from them.

So I guess for QLD people its worth a look, maybe even some discussion to dispel a few myths on whats what

Google...
Considering you already bought the sierra before you looked into it you've made it hard for yourself.

P Plate restrictions in Qld:
http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Licensing/Get ... tions.aspx

High powered vehicle definition as per Qld DOT:
http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Licensing/Get ... icles.aspx

Transport Operations Standards:
https://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/LEGI ... VSSR10.pdf

Note in section 13 it is referring to modification plates for modified vehicles. As a non-stock engine swap requires a blue plate the answer is no. You cannot drive a sierra with anything other than the stock engine. Techincally you couldn't even upgrade a 1L to a 1.3L.

Yes. You can temporarily remove them for the purpose of putting something in the back but the seat belts must also be removed. If you put anything at all in a bolt hole associated with the seats or seatbelts it will be considered a permanent fixture and will require a mod plate. If you want a mod plate, put the bolt back in the holes for the floor mounts. My inspector wanted to see that a seat wasn't going to go back in.

FYI, If you remove the seatbelts it is classed as a permenant removal.

I have taken my back seats out of my 80 series LC and left the belts in there and haven't had an issue.
I have been pulled over by the transport guys for a roadside inspection and they asked me about the rear seats and I told them I had just been to the rubbish dump and needed to remove them to fit everything in and they were fine. They didn't even question me on my 4" lift or anything else so I was lucky.

Mind you they said they liked the look of my truck and I wasn't a D###head to them so all was good

cheers
