Hi Guys, I know you are still busy doing the upgrade, but now we've moved to PHPBB, perhaps you would consider adding a module for smart phone users when you do the next update? Tapatalk seems to be quite popular... http://www.tapatalk.com/Cheers Chris

Another forum I use has tapatalk... I thought about trying it, until I realised you have to pay for the app, and the forum works fine on a smartphone browser anyway...

Its just an app which allows you to have a widget for different forums on your home screens and it puts it in a very easy to use format. One simple click on the widget and you are straight into the "New Posts" screen (I think this is customisable but never tried as it's what I want). Using the browser - open browser, favourites, auszookers, zoom in, select "New Posts", resize so I can read and select threads accurately. Works fine, but a lot more steps involved. It's very easy to implement, it's a plugin and inherits all the native forum security. It would be great if you could do it and then those who want to use it can and those who don't aren't forced to! You can still use the web browser if you like http://www.tapatalk.com/faq.php

Probably, I haven't tried, but once open I still much prefer the Tapatalk user interface, no zooming in and out etc, it's a dedicated mobile phone interface and so is much nicer to use overall. I have survived without it, but using the browser for this forum and Tapatalk for OZVR4 forum allows me to compare daily and Tapatalk is much nicer. I never use the browser for OZVR4 anymore (unless on a computer obviously ) If a mod could spare 5min to implement it it would be muchly appreciated! Haters don't have to use it, they won't even know it's there.

I use Tapatalk on another forum...but I generally only view this forum on my home PC so I don't really care. Tapatalk is bloody good though.

You don't have to use it if you don't want to But for those of us who do, we all think its a much better method.

Dont get me wrong I'm not saying they shouldnt get it for here as you said it doesnt affect my viewing experience either way, I have just heard people raving about it and yet no one has been able to explain exactly what it does that cant be done with the software that is readily available on most phones. I even had a quick look at the website and it doesnt tell you what it does that makes it so neccessary

I even had a quick look at the website and it doesn't tell you what it does that makes it so necessary It allows a much richer viewing experience than anything on any phone. If you know someone that uses it for a forum, get them to show you. An analogy would be "you can mow your lawn with a pair of scissors, but there is a much better way."

Agree - once you use the app you'll find the web interface clunky on a phone/tablet and yes, you android fags can use it too!

royce wrote: This setup seems to work really well on a smartphone, what does tapatalk do better? As others have said, it makes it much faster/easier to browse. It is much much easier to move around, especially with fat fingers, no need to zoom in and out to get the correct link (ie, moving from page 1 - 2 and not accidently hitting 3.). I can check all my forums in 5 minutes for all new posts. If I did it just as an internet page, it would take me 30. I bought the Tapatalk app and the Motorcylce.com app, I prefer it to using a desktop computer now (except for replies...but I do that when I get home). As I understand it is free for the forum, and it is apparently easy to install. (I am not a web admin though...but their site says it;s just a few lines of code). Cheers Chris

If I could use tapatalk on AZ then I'd probably be on the site 500% more than I am now as I could randomly check it from my phone during the day. Using the site from the phone's mobile browser is fucking shit and I won't even bother wasting any my time trying.
If it gets installed, cool. If not, meh.

Maybe we don't want you on here more
I am posting this from an android phone, phpbb makes it easy as to browse here now I really don't see the problem.
Even the boob thread scales to the screen size well.
And you have to pay for tapatalk, it will block the banners as well. Hate to say it bit seeing I have a phone that will run tapatalk and not Steve but he will have to install it not me its likely not ever going to get to the top of the list of things to do.

Like Royce said, the site is easy to read on a smartphone. I don't really care if it's installed but it would just allow a quick "check out" the site during work. Here are some screens... http://forum.monkeylord.co.uk/threads/t ... read.4948/It is just easier with tapatalk. (I don't know if it "easy" to install)

What makes it a quick checkout?
Based on those screen shots it looks harder to use thatn the native forum layout?

Have you tried a forum with Tapatalk? Your definition of 'easy' will change believe me. Browsing on the web isn't a 'problem' as such, it's just annoying having to zoom in and out all the time to get the right links, replying to a thread is annoying in portrait mode etc. Pictures scaling is fine, but web pages ie "New Posts" scales so small you can't accurately click on any links without zooming in. I don't bother doing much on my phone as it's too much hassle, I generally wait till I have access to a computer. Whether you can see a problem or not, or want to use it or not, we are just asking (nicely?) if it would be ok to install the plugin for us Cheers! Pete
