Well after getting sick of that stupid piece of tin of a std rear bar getting crumpled all the time and the weight of the spare tire and the jerry, can-opening my back door a solution was finaily made.
Complete tire/jerry swing away carrier, with narva ADR approved L.E.D tail lights (Altezza style)
The design uses a twin bar system, to try and elimate most of the wobble associated with many homemade carriers Ive seen. Sides are 6mm steel plates welded to the first bar. Should last alot longer than the std garbage.
Open rear bar showing the first bar which is mounted to the outersides of the chassie with bolts and crush tubes.
Tyre spear and jerry can holder
Now this is the 'tounge & catch' system used when the bar is completely closed to stop alot of the wobble thru the second bar.
Well now i need a tank protector, looks very vunerable all by its self.
Cheers Dan

Let me know how you go with the tank protector. Went for a blat today to discover that a previous dodgy repair job to the fuel tank gave way. 1/2 a tank in 80 clicks before I could get home and fix it.
Looks very vunerable down there and would hate to be out in the middle of nowhere with no fuel!

Low roof drover? Was it special? Or a hardtop with a drover front clip?

Nope it had all it's original placards and was a 1985 drover without the ugly high roof! Don't see to many of them around.
