Hey guys, I am new to posting here but thought some might be interested in my 2.5L V6 (H25A) Grand Vitara turbo conversion. I am currently gathering parts and pulling things down to start the fabrication of the exhaust manifold to mount the turbo and build an exhaust. I will start putting pics up as I progress, If I should start a thread elsewhere let me know as I am new here. Cheers! Jordo. |

you could start a build thread, but it kinda fits here if your fabing your own manifolds and stuff too. |

Perhaps the build thread might be the go, I am taking photos along the way and it should be fun for anyone interested. Am fabricating manifolds from scratch with help from a mate. Parts have started arriving today so will start putting something together. Cheers for the advice! |

Be interesting to see what gains will be had and how reliableo this motor will be. Do you have a Hp goal or just trying to get the most out the motor? |

I think about turboing the mrs grand vitara everytime i stick my head under the bonnet. Was thinking twin turbos, off of something like a rb26 or 2jz and should be close to the right size. Twin front intercoolers mounted with inlet at the bottom, outlet at the top with two pipe over too two throttle bodies mounted of the exsisting manifold. The engine is begging for the configuration in my mind. Now I will stop day dreaming and let you do it for real. Look foward too the build. |

Thinking would need a body lift just to attempt to fit it in and then a hood scoop to improve cooling |

You can buy an intercooler with twin inlet and one out.. Im thinking of a supercharger.. but forged internals will be a must.. |

Ok guys, I have put together an album of what I have been up to so far on the turbo Grand Vitara project. It's a bit all over the place but hopefully shows enough of what I have done for now Check out the link here: http://imgur.com/a/R9Dz9 Let me know if you have any questions! |

Nice work! Looks pretty schmick! What turbo are you running and what ecu will you use? Also where did you tap oil feed from? |

Thanks! Turbo is Gt28, ECU is Adaptronic e440d - http://www.adaptronic.com.au/product/e440d/ Running an in tank Bosch 040 pump and 540cc injectors. Oil feed was sourced from oil pressure switch on left side of block with a T piece made to run both. |

jordo84 wrote: Oil feed was sourced from oil pressure switch on left side of block with a T piece made to run both. That may not be the best place - I've had the brass fittings fatigue & break off leaving the stub in the block. |

Be careful running a T-piece sharing your pressure switch and turbo oil feed. In cars with high levels of vibration it's VERY common for components to fail in this setup. ie: Brass tee fractures resulting in catastrophic oil loss and engine failure. It used to be all the rage to use this method on MX5's. Failures were so common that during club race days, cars with this method wouldn't pass scrutineering. Offroad a 4wd would be just as likely to have a rough enough ride to promote failure. Where are you located Jordo? Who's tuning the Adaptronic for you? |

My tee didnt make a week after it was rebuilt before it snaped off and left a trail of oil through the carpark |

Braided hose and the tee mounted on the firewall/guard etc solve that issue? |

Definitely. Any method that removes the weight from the block so the brass threads aren't affected by fatigue should resolve the problem. |

Why? what is the weak point of these engines? the 9.5 stock comp looks to be fine with modern tuning and fuels. How strong are the rods? |
