Got sick of my shed radio and realized that I had a crapload of bits in the shed so thought I would have a go at making something that actually gets radio reception. Got a old head deck and smashed it into a milk crate Stuck a aerial on the crate Still have to add a few speakers, just ran out of ideas on how to atach them.

when i first saw this thread i searched and searched for my shed stereo i built about 3 or so years ago . Cleaning up the hard drive on the weekend come across them ...... Attachment: box1.JPG Attachment: box2.JPG Attachment: box3.JPG remote control so you could sit and drink and listen to tunes , at the top above the head deck was a lighter socket for when i couldnt find my ciggy lighter.. worked and sounded fantastic. Was going to put some lights behind the suzuki emblem but had to move at the time and gave it to a fellow suzuki enthusiast.

Making one at the moment, was going to run just my old pioneer 6x9's but scored a half decent 2ch amp dirt cheap, so got a pair of the jaycar Kevlar 6x9's (75w rms on both the amp and speakers, it was a sign right? ) and spent Sunday night buying some goodies off deal extreme. Will consist of the 6x9, some tweeters, amp, old CD player/fm radio and my old iPhone mounted in one big box, along with an N70Z battery for portable tunes, looking at around $200 for the lot, not bad given some mates built a slightly bigger version with a sub for $1500 hahaha

Ill throw this up as an extra idea... a group of people walked it thru the park on Australia day couple of years back... (party in the park for the Melbournites playing at home..Wicked day, Fitzroy gardens!) pumped out an impressive amount of noise considering! Bonus in carrying the shopping and listening to music....LOUD

The best 12v power supply is an old computer power supply just put a switch between the green and black wire on the 24 pin connecter the 12v will be from 15a to 30a depending on the quality of the power supply also you will have 3 and 5 volts

I have done something similar before. I just used an old transformer that was running some led strip lighting.
Worked well

i have an old 15in sub in a small non vented box that i mounted in 2x 4in 3 ways and an MP3/CD player and its powered off a computer power supply but i need another power supply to run the amp for the sub built it for my boat so i can use the existing speaker wire plugs in the side as 12v power from the boat battery or plug in 250v for the garage works a treat, its even remote
