a little while ago i made a video projector out of an overhead projector from a school, and a broken LCD computer monitor. end result is a propper working movie projector! i put it outside last night so the kids could watch movies on the side of the house & it looks suprisingly good. here is a pic & some videos of it in action..

they pretty much are. like an off white/cream colour. it all worked out pretty well..
