the zx10 after 1990 was fuel injected your thinking of throttle body size not carb size

the carbs them self cost me 150bucks cost me another 250bucks on for the rebuild and 185 4 the stage 3 jet kit another 80bucks 4 the turbo smart silicon hoses and didnt cot me a cent 4 the manifold as i had a spare 1 and cut it down and used the manifold and cut it up and had other parts and cut them 2 size and got it welded

nah the fronts and rears r both 30x9.5inch fronts have a bit more wear than the backs and those fronts r almost 2 years old and the backs r like a month old hehehe i think its 2 do with the angle 2 added a pic might look different

um the carbs r off a 1990 zx10 kawasaki ninga which r if i remember right r a 40mm carb these carbs have both sliders and a butterfly.
As im running induvidual pods i had 2 get a stage 3 jet kit, as the normal air box creates a vaccum and helps the slids open with out this kit the slide open slower and will only open 3/4 way and can cause ya engine 2 flood as u r getting the fuel u need but cause the slide doesnt open all the way it restricts the air flow and can cause ya plugs 2 fowl up.
so i bought this stage 3 kit which comes with new jets and sliders and a slidder drill 2 redrill it out 2 suit the new 1s also comes with a weaker spring so ive got the 155 jets which r the larges jets this kit comes with so that they will open quicker and all the way and not cause ya ova fueling problem and wont lean out ''takes a breath''

so after all that and reducing the fuel presure down 2 4psi so it doesnt put 2 much pressure in ya bowl and cause it 2 flood on idle i think we have a good set up.

i have been working with comp convertions and also mildreds dyno tune 2 iron out all the probs and 2 get these running at full power and so far all is good

im so glad i have had the help of these guys in there own time or it would have cost me a mint
i think they r as excited as me and have been more than willing 2 help me out and follow this project through

hope i have answered all questions u guys had

my brother had modded ninja, i named it black death. it felt like it was going to kill you every time you rode it, just like a real ninja! 8O

i seriously think it was off the road in pieces more often than it was running..... it ended up cracking the crankshaft & it still sitting in his shed in pieces.

11500 redline 12000 on the limiter
the bike i had when the zzr was king was a cbr1000 and the fastest
i could get out off it was 295kph but i spent a lot off money on it.
we had no speed limits on the highways then, it was a lot of fun overtaking pursuit cars at 250+kph

It has been done before, Brisbane off road legend Chad Debrueys experimented with quad carbs on his 1300 Sierra off road race car in the mid to late 1980's before Suzuki made EFI Vitara's as donor cars for Sierra drivers. Chad had the benifit of access to a dyno and a relative in the motorcycle repair industry. After much R&D, different cam profiles, standard and modified cylinder heads, sets of carbies off different bikes, numerous dyno runs and a few offroad events running the quad carbies he scraped the idea. He had already gone down the same road experimenting with a range of 2 barrel carbies from Japanese cars of the day and was able to make more usable power with these modified 2 barrels. I think the main let down was that the side draft carbies were best suited to open throttle applications and high RPM, and made the suzuki too doughy down low. Unless you were flat track racing any benifit gained in top end was lost getting out of the hole each time you had to back off. I believe he raced with a modified Nissan 2 barrel carbie until he went to EFI. Chad's last set of quads is still sitting on the shelf at the workshop where my son works complete with manifold, airfilters and accelerator cable brackets. I will take some photo's and post them up. Those from Brisbane may remember Chad's night run car in the late 1980's, an LJ50 3 cyl 2 stroke with triple carbies and electronic ignition off a Suzuki outboard motor, it had a custom expansion chamber type exhaust and it was just awesome to hear it on the throttle in the bush.

how does it run well when we first had them on b4 i put the stage 3 jet kit tho them and b4 the reg it ran great until it would flood on idle now its all set up ready 2 go all i need now is an opening at mildreds dyno tune and they should make good power hopeing with the cam and ported head 4 about 100-110hp at the wheels, also got 2inch exhaust and extractors rebuilt bottom end so should b good

oh ok true would b nice 2 see if those carbs would b for sale i would b keen on them.
im mainly doing 2 get some more throttle responce im also putting a re ground cam and ported head on as well so should give me more driveabillity

keep in mind that carbys have come along way since the 80's these r off a 1990 kawasaki zx10 ninga

You have carbies off a 1990 model bike, as I said Chad was playing with quad carbies in the mid to late 80's so they may have only been 2 or 3 years older than what you have.

I don't believe that carbies have changed all that much since the mid 80's, I have a 4 gauge mercury carb balancer at home that I use to balance my carbies, there is little difference between the carbies on my 1996 1200 Suzuki Bandit and my old 1989 GSXR1100. I also use it to balance the twin hitachi carbies on my LJ80 Suzuki. If you are in Brisbane you are welcome to borrow my balancer to set up your carbies, it is free standing and has it's own fuel supply (so I can work with tank off the bike).

The dyno figures will be interesting, but I think you will be dispointed, post up the sheets after your dyno run for us to see. Remember a standard 1300 makes 63HP (about 50 at the wheels) and even a fuel injected 16 valve 1300's only make 83hp (about 66 at the wheels) so I think 100 - 110hp at the wheels is a big ask.

yeah i know they man reason i got that figure is my mate has done the same 2 his swift and hes making 102hp out of his and hes the 1 whos doing my head
then again its in a front wheel drive and hes also got lighten fly wheel and a fully balanced bottom end

but the power doesnt really bother me i mainly want throttle responce

if i want 2 go fast ill get on my jetski or take the 380hp nissan exa out my garage

p.s thanks 4 the offer but in in sa and am lucky 2 have a mate at boltons kawasaki, comp convertions and mildreds plus alot of other mates in the car industry so i have access 2 dynos and cheap parts
