I dont have a bull bar ( and dont quite have the money to put on on either) and needed somewhere to mount my aerial i have seen someone weld a plate off the spare wheel carrier good idea but i dont have a welder :( so next best option was to mount it on the roof rail ( better reception) lots of planing and trying out different designs till i just had to keep it simple stupid (KISS) here are a few little pics of the final product -

That's a super neat install! Did you run the cable internally or just through the door opening?

I'm still struggling with where to locate the set, the aerial currently sits way too low on a bracket above the number plate. Neat, but not all that very best!

Every other current series GV I've seen simply mounts the radio to the passenger side of the console, I'm trying to do better and would welcome any thoughts!

The aerial might end up on the roof bars yet ;)

Yeah, very neat install!! I like the 4400 purely for the fact that it is din size, looks neat when installed in the dash like that

Thanks guys,
I should have said what i made it out of its made out of 3mm steel so its not going any where. i ran the cable through the rail then i went down through the roof now b4 you say anything bad yes i painted it with rust proof and then siliconed the crap out if it and guess what NO leaks yay

well i got half the mount off ebay and made the rest myself the part that wraps around the rail i made and bent to suit but got this part off ebay
