Well I was holding off on posting this until I was finished but I caved.

This is the beginning of my drawer system. Its going to be a single drawer unit, I couldnt justify the loss of space having 2 drawers and its cheaper with one set of sliders. Im going to make a fridge slide (when i get a fridge) to go on top.

Im using 25mm QubeLok aluminium framework and the rest is going to be plywood. QubeLok is the BOMB! so easy to work with and damn cheap. (dont goto bunnings, at least double the cost)

The plan is to have a 240v GPO at the back connected to an inverter hidden at the front of the frame, and maybe some 6x9s on the front too, havent decided yet
not going to have any top access panels. just a flat top, will be in 2 pieces to assist in removal and install.

anywho, pics pretty much sum it up where i am at so far. Ill post a detailed cad sketch and dimensions, build list etc when im finished

Hey, I'm doing the same thing with a few more supports, but pretty much identical.
Dont forget to rivet the joins otherwise they pop out.

Yours looks 100 times neater than mine.

no way they're coming out mate, i had to pull it apart to do some "length adjustment" and i had to belt the absolute crap out of it to get it apart. snapped one of the plastic things it was that tight. the ally is actually 24.4 or something like that so that it fits that way... you may have 25? The bloke at the shop said you shouldnt have to use any fasteners at all. the ply will hold it all together anyways when its screwed down.

QubeLok came from Capral (they are the manufacturer) lucky enough to have one local in Townsville.

At Bunnings its called Connect-It (i think)

each fitting is about 2 bucks
and the ally is around 30 bucks for 6m from memory, it varys where you are in Oz.

I got some 100kg sliders that have lock-outs from ebay for 70 bucks, only got them a day before i left for work. so thats why i stopped where i am now.
There will be some 3mm flat bar ally on each side to distribute the weight more evenly and to make attaching the slider easy.

Ill be making the drawer itself the 1st priority when i get home then the facias and finally the top. so hopefully shouldnt be too far off.

Looks good, I've made one out of 20mm2 steel tube, bolts to the floor pan where the rear seats mount, and drilled extra holes, stong enough to hold a solid drawer with there 1000mm length, with a mt45 engle on top, it's heavy, but solid! Would post pics, but don't know how to on iPhones!

yeah mate theres a pic of it somewhere on here elsewhere. now back to the drawers...
have drawn up a sketch of how im going to have the electrics routed. its going to be pretty flash so i wont spoil it.

well i got off my fat ass and did some work on the drawers last week with my old man and brother lending a hand.

700mm drawer slides work excellent, and the drawer JUST clears the rear plastic trim.

Nearly finished now, just need to do the top, front and some trim. then a bit of a schmick up with carpet and im done!

Slide mounted to frame with 3mm plate using rivets and bolts.

Start of making the drawer out of 12mm Ply, the base will be re-inforced down the track closer to completion
used 20x20mm angle for the joins with M6x20mm countersunk bolts for hardware.

cheers mate, took a decent amount of time getting everything to line up straight and bolted. was a mongrel.
still got many hours left to go. going to be carpeted on the front of the drawer and every other visible part when its closed, not doing anything to inside at this stage except maybe a divider for some extra base strength. Also gotta put big handle on there and a locking mech obviously.
the front face of the drawers will eventually get some toys bolted on there like fire extinguisher, inverter, dual batt monitor, etc. considering putting 6x9 pods on there to replace the pissant 4" rear speakers i chucked in 6 months ago, but i dont really give a toss about sound these days.

Did a bit more last trip home. got the top finished, and couldnt resist taking it for a test run camping to see what needs improvement. all good so far.
Just need to carpet the top, trim the side bits where the slides are exposed and shes good to go!

the extra hight in my draws is a PIA, when i load her up with stuff i cant see out the back!

you have got me on to the qube lock stuff now, about to build a full tv cabnet for all my gaming consoles (i have a collection) and some flash stuff!

Yeah its some pretty wicked stuff. im gonna use it to make some shelves for exactly the same reason lol.
they do sell some of the ally with a small lip on one edge so that you can lay a piece of glass on there for a shelf, they had some in the showroom when i bought it from capral. it looks pretty good. but id use just a bit o' ply

OMG this is the stuff I need for my shelf/bed system!

Great work on your drawer system, I have a set of those 100kg sliders (meant for a server cabinet) but never figured out the best way to use them. I decided shelves will work better for me than drawers.

yeah, apparently capral hobart don't stock it with the lip! but bunnings do! I'm thinking red and clear prespex in mine.

i call bullshit on that one dude. my local capral has a redonculous range of extruded ally. some i wouldnt even know the application. plus capral is like 300% cheaper than bunnings, wish i went there 1st for my drawers would have saved about 40 bucks.

maybe you got a shitty capral.

yeah I'd say that ay. they stock the square stuff but not with the toung bit for shelving! the tube is stupidity cheeper than bunnings tho...

Seen this today, draw looks good. The craftmanship is also top notch.

Just a tip tho. I would pull the draw back out and give it a few coats of clear lacquer to protect it.

Do you mind explaining how your false floor/flat floor is fixed down?

I understand you use the holes the rear seats bolt down to but I don't understand how you get access to be able to remove it or fit it...

i'm guessing if you remove the drawer from the unit & there would be a massive window of opportunity to be able to access the bolts?
