G,day Since the weather is getting cooler it's not long now till it's not much fun in the water so thought the Jimny might want to become a sandboard towing machine. Anyway, only problem is I dont have a sandboard, so thought I'd have a crack at a dodgy DIY. Oh well see how it goes, anyone else made one? Tips? Attempting to do something like this http://www.sandboard.com/drdune/makeasa ... /index.htm |

My mate and I built one years ago. But we glued an old pair of skate shoes, instead of straps. Then we'd go out bush and get towed behind his old Mazda 323. Wed hit speeds of up to 70km. But we would wear motor cross gear and a helmet. Our name for that madness was called ruffridding. |

This is the one i made, i glued individual layers of ply together and curved it over. I used seat bealts as foot straps, Note. This is a very bad idea. I had stack and i think i broke my foot. The straps don't flex |

I was going to try this this method next, the old carve out and fold and glue looks a bit speculative when you apply any downward pressure. I recon it will snap first go, leaving to really dry off and harden up first, just glued a piece of melamine on the bottom and drying at the moment. |

the laminating method is by far the best way to do it. just have to build up a frame to press the board into the right shape while it drys. Then a bit of benthtop laminate. one of the shiny smooth ones just contact adhesive that on cut to shape and a bit of candle wax and you have a way scary ride down any hill. old car bonnets are good fun too. |

use a pair of lace up volleys. I used to make trampoline boards, and they work really well |
