Ok so i have chopped up the jimny bar i scored, it came with IPF Driving lights and i picked it up for cheap as chips from a mate at work .
I have tacked it in place and i need to fabricate some mounts so i can bolt the damn thing on.
Below are the pics. Let me know what you guys think Please. I'm going to get it powder coated black after i have finished welding the mounts on, and adding some more meat too it. i might even modify it to suit a winch.
Please let me know how to friggin mount it too the chassis.
Conrad

That looks really good mate. Does the shackle hit the bar when flexing?
Do you have any pics showing where the chassis rail meets the back of the bar?

I don't know if its the red paint or what, but it look way too bulky. Youd have worse approach angle than with a stock bumper I reckon.
Otherwise, Top work

I have only tacked the bar into place at the moment, i still need to fab up some mounts to bolt it up too the chassis.
The old mounts will need to be cut off the Jimny Bar. Once this is done the bar will not hit the shacles when flexing.
As i progress i will take pics.

Yeah it does look pretty bulky, but once painted black it will look better.
Not sure about the approach angle but. We shall soon see i spose.
Hopefully i'll be heading up to wellington dam for a test drive soon.

I mounted an alluminium Jimmy bullbar to my sj80 years ago, the mounts were pretty simple, using jus a piece of plate steel mounting to the end of the chassis rail there are 2 large 12mm bolt holes already , cut the old pissy little out riggers off and get some solid mounts, looks top notch bud
here's a rough pic of my rig where it should mount

Mate do you have any better pics of the mounting position please, that link is way too small to see.
Cheers

before you cut anything off it, i would see if anyone would buy it as is & then use that money to buy a Sierra ARB Bar.

Hey Conrad finally got some pics, I got lazy, you can see the mounting points on the end of the chassis rail, the position and shape the mounts need to be cut, you can also see the small pieces of pipe I welded inside the chassis rail
to stop it crushing when tightening up the bolts, hope these help bud

No indicators needed thanks, already had a set on it, i have fitted them back on. The bar really is not that big. When you see it in real life it looks normal. But yeah i need to get it powder coated black, will look heaps better (get rid of the TRANNY LIPSTICK ZOOK Look).
My approach angle is sweet as, if my bar doesnt get past the things i want to climb the zook wont make it up regardless, with or without the bar.
Cheers

thats wrong. In my old car i had a massive farm gate of a front bar and there was a rock step that i couldnt get up because of the bar getting stuck on it. i then got an arb bar which massively increased my approach angle and overhang and i could then get up.

If my bar stops me from going anywhere i will pull it off and get a sierra one. But right now i cant justify spending $900+ on an ARB sierra bar, when this bar i have on will do the job, and cost me fark all. But if you have one that you want to sell let me know. I ONLY WANT AN ARB ONE!!!

Cheers, mate
I am starting to really like it too, I'm going to get it powder coated next week, that will make it look heaps better.
I might keep the IPF lights with red on the backs of them to make it a bit contrasting.
