In the last pic, the uni for the cressida box is on there, the other end with sierra splines will go the fire wall.

Looks good. Funny how suzuki can pass shithouse welds on steering, yet we nomally can't pass any welds on steering..

Post subject:  Re: Cressida power steering link

im not sure you can seperate the uni's jonno, there pressed and crimped in.

@timmy, yes, the welds i cut off of the corrola were scrape through-able.... Im hoping to use the welds as what holds it in the slot's not what keeps it from breaking apart....

looks good, i dont think you will have a problem with engineering, could use that thing as a drive shaft :D

Does it bind at all? I normally keep the uni's inline with each other. Like a tailshaft. They look offset in the last pic.

Post subject:  Re: Cressida power steering tech

No they would only be 20mm out of left-right, and about 100mm up and down..... the firewall uni is at stock angle, the corrola one is nearly straight..... does that answer your question?

Post subject:  Re: Cressida power steering tech

um.. no

Unis are very good at angles. My vit box is more pissed than your mx box as it mounts on an angle..

Looking at the forks/bearing holder/uni's.
I keep the 2 uni's inline. See how one is turned more on the spline/s?
As an example of the uni's being inline with each other:

I took a photo then had to run, so they now are fully bolted in and the uni's line up  just waiting on timmay's present to get here then it can be tested a bit, i got my G13ba crank pulley today so now i can start on the power steering pump bracket. will be able to get back into it next sat :D

NOTHING TO SEE HERE.........GO CHECK OUT THE BOOBIES THREAD....

yada yada yada yada yada.......this is just for peoples info if they are going to do the same.

when placing crush tubes in the chassis don't go all the way through with them. look at the suzuki ones and you will see they stop on the inside of the chassis rail. placing them all the way through means the welds are now taking most of the load and not the chassis. don't show the engineer these pics

Post subject:  Re: Cressida power steering tech

cheers joe, i didn't realise i did anything wrong, i wouldn't want to be a danger to anyone else on the roads. But seriously, i flappy disked it down flush with the rest of the stock stiffener plate, and there is a milled back on the box that would spread the load yeah? in your engineer's opinion is this something that will fail?

it's only going to be pushing around 29s, but if it's over engineered then ill have to second thoughts with 33's or larger.....

Post subject:  Re: Cressida power steering tech

you should be fine just do regular checks. imagine the box being pulled towards the passenger side away from the chassis, with the sleeves all the way through the weld is the olnly thing stopping it. if they were butted up on the inside of the chassis rail the bolt would be pulling on the sleeve, which would then have to try and get through the chassis. that way the weld is under less load. you still have one original sleeve and i think you'll be right. like i said......burn those pics or photo-chop em'

well im slow, but this is the last of the cressida tech to flow from me. i ended up using a cressida rack and pinion pump, as thats what i could find, 2 fittings from the same rack and pin, and one off of a camry
