Howdy All,
Spent the weekend making my own rear storage for my Jimny and thought i would share the pics with all. I decided to use the tube section and joints that were purchased from bunnings so that it was light weight and easy to build, all i need to do now is carpet the top and buy a fridge slide see pics below:
With the 60ltr Waeco
Cheers

Good question, when the rear seats are removed there are 4 bolts that hold the front of the seats in place, ive made it to mount up to the bolt holes, you can see the holes drilled in the frame but havent got any bolts in place as the bolt shop is always closed when i need to go there as they are typically a funny thread size.
Cheers

Ah Cool, will have to check it out at Bunnings, was it very expensive ?
Even though the GV has a fairly small space behind the rear seats, i was thinkin of making a shelf with drawers, but with a twist, the shelf would also be a removable camping table with legs, and the drawers would be seats.... idea's, idea's...

Its pretty cheap actually, a 3m length of Aluminium is about 25 bux, i used just over 2 lengths and have enough left over to make a frame for a side awning (next small project) and the joiners are a a couple of bux each also.
Got the idea from an article in 4wd action last month where some guy made what looks like an entire rear storage outta the stuff complete with sliding draws...pretty crazy...
Cheers

Ahhh cool, $25 is not bad... i had an idea for an awning... using the back door as part of the support and wind break, but yeah, maybe a 2 or 3mtr area out from the back door, using a tarp... all these idea's, ha ha...
