Just last weekend I took out the back seats and made a flat pannel with a hinged section on it, so i can still get to the Jack etc.

Materials used - 1200mm by 900mm 5 Ply
- about 1m by 2m Of the Black Covering stuff
- 2 brass hinges (not the ones shown they didnt work..)

All up cost about - $80

Did you have to frame up the foot well OR have you used the space as storage..
Haven't pulled my seats out yet , thought there would be space where seat section was and foot well.
Any Pics before flat sheet goes in ??

The last picture there is of when there is no seats in it i also took out those metal brackets and used 2 screws that went through the holes already in the chassy to secure it. The space between is only about 20cm long by about 1 and a half centimetres deep and the 5 ply is strong enough to support any weight that will go ontop of it. (I sat on it and the board didnt bend) Its reasonable straght foward but youll see that when you take them out! good luck Also theres just an over hang of about 15 cm over the foot well but again the 5 ply should be sufficiently strong enough

Hey Mubby,

Can you post some info and closeups on the way you've got the stereo head unit set up? I've been getting not so supportive statements from car audio places about upgrades.

Hey Mattg, I got the head unit put in by a place called Maroochy Car sound up on the sunshine coast. They used a Grand Vitara facier and modified it so that it would fit into the jimny. They said that there is not an actually facier made for the jimnys from like 05 onwards because they made the new units slightly larger. I Can take some close ups still if youd like? If you go to a custom sound place around were you live they should be able to make it for you cost me 150 for the head unit and 250 for the installation and making the modified facier but all looks good

If you would, please - that's the same line I've been hearing.

It's ridiculous that after 5 years there's still not a fascia adapter readily available, and even moreso that Suzuki would go with a low end head unit, and implement it in a way that's not easily upgradable.

I'm trying to get what I think is a similar setup to yours, a 1 din JVC head, and a 1din pocket under it.

Hey Man heres the pics of the head unit what they did is put a sort of added edge around the actuall front plastic work to make it look like the smaller vitara unit fits. then just the head unit and a pocket ! hope that helps ya ! Nick - Mubby

Thanks for posting that. Did they just make that insert by cutting it out of the dash of a (wrecked) vitara?

Did you do any of the dis/reassembly of the console fascia, and if so is it an easy task, or am I likely to break things like plastic clips?

The Dissasembaly of the console fascia is fairly easy just pull from bottom and work your way up. I am not to sure exactly what they did with the dash insert etc. But the plastic clips seem pretty hardy i havnt broken any yet and ive had it of a fair bit installing the sub etc.
