Thought I'd throw some pics of my rear bar in here for people thinking of making one for themselves mine is 125x75x4mm RHS Cut and folded ends 
Holes cut for hitch box and recovery points 
Fully welded and hole cut for swing away pivot held up to car 
Brackets made for tail lights and holes cut and brackets welded in and linished up 
Fully mounted to car and lights all wired in 
I will add to this when I've finished the swing away part of the bar as well Cheers Robb.

Na! not too bad when you remember that I've removed the factory bar plus the weight of the standard towbar thats now gone also it'd be only slightly heavier than both combined not even noticable but bulit for strenghth and pulling so perfect for that!  Robb.

Yeah certainly looks the goods.. How is it mounted though? The stock mounting points are fairly weak |

right, nice bar bogfrog....but your suzuki severely needs to get dirty. plenty of mud around so it's time for a vic zook trip in the hills ASAP

The stock mounting points are fairly weak Hey Jccck' I've mounted it at the top with the rear body mount bolt then underneath she pics up on the towbar mounts on the bottom end of the rail, at the moment she only pics up on one each side but I've descided to scrap this and use 100x100x6mm angle about 100mm wide, then I will be able to pick up on both holes and i'll also make a captive in the end of the round tube rail and add one bracket to there as well, finally there will be 10mm plate in the centre around 150mm long welded to the round tube with two captive nuts and another welded to the rear bar, then the two will bolt together just for a bit of extra strength when snatching etc.... EDIT: Heres a bit of a diagram as to how it will be mounted

all looks about how i will be going about mounting my rear bar when i build it.my only question and maybe you or someone else could answer it is how do you go picking up the rear body mounts and solid chassis mounts?? is the flex of the body going to result in cracked body mounts? appsie |

is the flex of the body going to result in cracked body mounts? appsie bolts to the bottom of the body lift- may have to trim the body lift to compensate for the new spacer that goes in between the body mounts and the body lift so it doesnt flex at all |

Mine actually has the top mounts bolted ontop of the body where the rear door jam dips down on each side, there is enough room to fit 6mm plate under there and not foul the door I also have alloy BL so not much body flex anyway plus all this tied together will hold it pretty solid I don't think broken body mounts will be a problem. |

cheersYou can get them from any bursons or repco store (Narva p/n#94210) but expect to pay between $200-270 for a pair any more than that and their rippin' ya off She gets washed after every drive but shes no good for wheelin' at the moment with the 33's until I change my diff gears will just kill my clutch on any hills so just got to hang out til I've got enough cash to do the swap am also putting chromo fronts in will order them next week so have to wait for them also.

Hey guys been playing with a few ideas for my swing away just trying to descide how I want to set it up? I've removed my busted tailgate and replaced it with a good one, Ok here's what I'm trying to descide: 1.) Do I want my spare on the Drivers side as per the norm and should I extend the swingaway across to the passenger side like this and add a Jerry Holder?: 
Pro's: are that I get my Spare off the tailgate and add a Jerry Holder and also can see OK out my rear vision mirror. Also only have to open one thing before opening the Tailgate. Con's: added weight to and already growing Leaning problem.
OR 2.) Should I Move spare to the Passenger side and add a Jerry can Holder to the Drivers side like this: 
Pro's: Weight Counter Balances the Dredded Sierra Lean and Looks better as well as only opening one thing before opening Tailgate as before in 1.) Con's: Not sure if the extended bar with the weight at the opposite end will be too Heavy and cause sag over time also tyre blocks rear view and causes a slight blind spot on passenger side but can live with that. OR 3.) Should I just stick with my Original plan and make the swingaway on the Drivers side without any Jerry holder? OR 4.) Should I make it on the passenger side with no Jerry Holder? OR and Finally! 5.) Should I make two swing aways one for each with the Jerry on the Drivers side? Pro's: as in 2.) Con's: as in 2.) but also with having to open two swingaways in opposite directions too open tailgate and on side angles this may be a PITA. Would just like your thoughts and opinion's on any or all of these to help me to make this descision all comments welcome! Cheers in advance Robb. |

tyre on pasener side and make the jerry holder removeable. weld some nuts into swing awag that allows jerry holder to be unbolted. Fab up a gas strut on the swing out arm to hold it open....bonnet struts should work ok. Thats wat i want you to put on mine...

make it open towards the drivers side. so when you are pulled over you can freely access stuff towards the roadside and not into oncomming traffic. |

Cheers Jas, Yeah I like that idea to, mainly for the weight balance thing and the Jerry would be empty most of the time unless heading out so wouldn't have to be removable but I would make it un-boltable anyway. Thanks 89_tintop, I was thinkin' bout this today as I searched pics etc.. of Zooks with rear wheel carriers and it wouldn't be too bad if I had a long range tank and didn't have to carry a jerry on longer trips but I spose I could always find somewhere else to put a jerry in the car anyway? will have to think more about it?
