Rally - April 2010
A few of us went to another South Burnett Rally heldf out near Goomeri Qld. Two Sierras, one Vitara and seven drivers were in our group. The usual competition was on between Nissvit (Chris B) and i as we compete in the same vehicle. I started off ok on Saturday doing decent lap times and beat Nissvits time on a few laps, which is unusual so i assume he wasn't trying, but then i went off the track mowing the long grass then slide back on the track and went up an embankment and had to reverse back, losing 10 seconds so i basicly blew any chance i had of getting a good overall time at the end of the weekend. Nissvit picked up the pace on Sunday and ended up being a fare way ahead on time and placed 3rd for the weekend. Nissvits partner did really well with consistant times and ended up winning the womens 1st place trophy. Craig in his 1.6 Sierra was a bit slow on Saturday as he had never raced this track before but on Sunday he was starting to do really good times and placed 2nd for the weekend. Craigs partner Amanda also was doing well with a bit of coaching from Craig and picked up second place for the womens class. Deans' 1.3 Sierra was going well but had a fuel pump problem on Sunday so had to stop and missed about 3 laps. Michelle, Deans Partner, was having a great time as this was the first event that she's ever driven in, but also had to pull out because of the fuel pump problem.

Team Casper - Tough Tracks 08
Well, what can Jason and I say about this weekend? ? ? ? ? ?
Firsty we would like to say a big THANK YOU to all that came along to support "Team Casper"
Now lets see if I can remember them all.
Greg, Natalie, Lincoln and Sophie. (thank you soooooo much for the "Team Casper" outfits the kids had on )
Mike, Demi and Nick.
Paul.
Westie and (edited)a. (thanks for following us all the way there and back )
Shazza and Renee (they HAD TO BE THERE )
All the guys from ECB (that's East Coast Bullbars.)
Tony and his mates.
Ok now for the good and bad bits.
Track 1. Sat
We drew car 12 from a field of 16 car so we thought that was a good start as we could watch some of them go thought and check some lines.
The track was a very rocky and wet creek bed (as they always are) with the start being a steep down hill going into a sharp left turn to a large rock in the way of the left front wheel. We past that managed to get ourselves to the 600 point mark (with an already smashed in front pass corner) where we slide off the rocky step up and got stuck between a rock and a tree. All over red rover after 3 attempts. We had to get towed out as even with both lockers on (no you are not allowed to use lockers in this event) we could not get out. We both were not real happy with this and at the end of this track we were in 12th position.
Track 2 Sunday morning. (after watching the support crew on Sat night drink up big) (We had to be 0)
This track was a another rocky twisty tight track with a LARGE exit (that only 3 of the 16 cars drove)
As we were 12th after track 1 we were 12 on track for this and also track 3. Our turn finally arrived after about 3 hours. We again got the 600 point mark and got a little stuck but with a little brake playing and the right foot going we managed to get good old Casper over and onto the 700 mark. Once past that the 800 mark was the next hard spot let alone the 900 (BIG STEP UP). After a little forward and back (and banging and griding) we managed to get thought the 800 mark to what I thought was going the be about the end of our run as I did not think we would get over this step. The only other 2 that had got over were the 2 only Jeeps in our class. Funny about that as they have rather GOOD LSD's in the arse end. Anyway back to Casper. We approached the LARGE STEP UP, had 1 go and no go. (Did I mention that it had been raining and the rocks were like ice and VERY slippery) Jason got me to get out of Casper and help him rock stack for our 1 of 30 sec rock stacking. Attempt 2 was not too bad however Jason moved me into another position but before I had my 2nd attempt he got me out of the car to help him move a log into a better position, so we had no more rock staking left. Off Casper went for attempt 2. Got about 1/2 way up, kicked all the rocks out and the log but no good. I wanted to call it as I did not see a way of getting up without stacking. The crowd went,"NOOOOOOOOOOOO ONE MOREEEEEEE GOOOOOOOO." Jason said about the same thing, so I thought, what the heck lets gooooooo. He lined me up, I put Casper into 2nd gear AGAIN and just move Casper to the start of the step up and JUST NAILED IT WITH ALL SHE HAD. Bloody hell I'm up, Holly Sh it, I (we) did it. And without a sec thought I was out past the 1000 point mark and home free. Man Ooooo Man what a great feeling as the crowd went wild. (they really did) We showed them Jeep boys a thing or 2 let me tell you.
So guess what. We came 2nd on that track as we had less penalty points as them Jeep drivers. So CASPER had a trophy.
Track 3.
This looked an easy track as it was again rocky but look Zook friendly (noooooooooo it was not)
Anyway we again waited for our turn and away we went. By this time we had quite a following with the crowd as we were the underdogs cause we had what we thought the best looking car there and we had stuck it up them jeeps. From what I was told the crowd was right behind 'TEAM CASPER"
We approached the 500 point mark with only 1 cone hit and no reverses. Got a little hung up at the 600 mark but managed to get around that. Passing the 700, 800 and into the 900 area was a walk in the park for the little zook but the exit was rather steep with th tight right hand turn. I got around the 900 mark and gave Casper all she had hitting about 6000 rpms in 2nd gear.
Guess what ? ? ? ?
We sharked 3rd on this track so another trophy for TEAM CASPER"
I am not sure where we came overall (about a week away) but I think we came 4th outright which gets us to about 6th overall with 1 round to go.
Again thank you sooooooo much to all that came out. Jason and I reallllllly appreciate it.
Bruce

Congrats to Steve and his 2 spotters they did sooooooo well. Steve drives so cool and calm!!! This time we really stepped it up with the difficulty level of the tracks, but the boys just lapped it up! We had drop-offs that were as high as the little zook was long and there was more than one occasion that steve pedalled it on 1 or 2 wheels!! The highlight was watching a shortwheelbase ACTUALLY drive the bonus line on the final stage!!! MY F##########'ing GOD it is steep!!! even in a long wheelbase!!!! I think we all watched in amazement!!! Steve you must have nuts the size of coconuts!!!!
I think all steve needs is some chromo zuk cv's and he will be able to spank the best of them!! Also well done to both spotters DJ and Bruce, i am sure they appreciated just how hard the tracks acually were!!!

Quote from Superior Engineering
SUPERIOR ENG PRO TRUCK CHALLENGE 08 Round 1
The round 1 event was run over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of may at Rover park near Tenterfield NSW
This round seen some new faces to the scene as some of the vehicles from the previous round could not make it due to being broken or repairs being carried out, and mothers day stopped a few coming out as well.
Day one Saturday was out the back of the Rover park running next to the Teams winch challenge run by Dave metcalf so their heaps of action to be seen from both sides. At times the rockcrawlers were saying to the winch challenge guys winchs shouldn't have to be used on 4x4's and the winch challenge guys were saying ski ropes are only supposed to be in a boat not on a 4x4.
Saturdays coarses were over a series of drop offs and step ups some up to 1.5 Mtrs , the terrain was all rock with water and slime over some of it so tyre choice was important for traction, although having drop offs and stepups the coarses are all safe with no chance of serious damage to the vehicles and recovery for the few broken trucks was easy as the repairs were mostly carried out on the spot. One section was a series of small waterfall stepups with water flowing over them so the correct line had to be taken and the water certainly made it all the bit harder again. The courses were reasonable tight so the smaller trucks like Steves suzi made the turns look so easy but after each turn was a gully or step up which than tested the little suzi to its near limits. Tim and his navie had a good run on saturday with no problems .
Most of the trucks were running 35-37 inch tyres but 44's were the choice for Bartso's big GQ with a nice v8 rumble breaking the silence of the bush, the little suzi only running smaller tyres but still outdriving some of the bigger tyred trucks.
All vehicles had lockers so the combination of grippy rock under cut ledges heavy full body trucks some breakages happened, Nick in his blue MQ had a few problems the front shaft falling out due to being to short and to much flex, Brad in his V6 powered hilux broke a CV and cracked the sliders on some damn hard rock, The superior GQ snapped a tie rod when tamara was driving it ( i think i broke it previously on a step up) so she DNF that stage and Bartso managed to show up a bit late after Ryano slep in late so they missed the first 2 stages only to than have steering problems the whole weekend making it near impossible to steer the big 44's.
The superior Truck had a bit of a sleep on its side after some over confident driving from myself thinking it could drive 70 degrees sideslopes and shayne's buggy also thought it would have a rest on its side during saturday.
The drivers all proved themselves on saturday with some outstanding driving not to mention the navigators as without them we could not drive the courses.
6 Coarses were run over the saturday so there was heaps of driving time as most of the coarses were from 10-15 minute timeouts. The comp kicked of about 8.30 and finished about 4.30. The end of saturday seen Brads hilux being towed back after running out of fuel on the drive to the campsite than out came the 2WD Ramp competition on the 30 degree RTI Ramp. We had 2 competitors Dave in the hilux and Mad Scotty in the Laser. Both cars had issues with bumper bars fouling on the ramp while trying to drive up so after some carfull navie work they got them on and the hilux won , Probably got a score of about 10. Not to be out done scotty than proceded to do front wheel digs in the car park just to show dave his laser had what it took to be a tough 2 wheel drive.

Day 1 7th July 2007 Brisbane to Rockhampton
We gathered at the BP Burpengary at 7:30. There was Andrew, Symon and me in the initial starting line up. Dean had problems with his new alternator and let us know through Bruce that he would catch up. Allen had left the day before and was already in Rocky. We picked up Bruce and family a short distance up the road and headed for Dicks place. The trip was uneventful and we arrived around 4 to find Allen had already set up his camper trailer. We had a bit of a ramping competition which was won by the Rangie. Dick and Wendy had an awesome BBQ set up and we retired to warm beds in the house.

Logan Challenge 2006
Logan Challenge 2006 is being held at Rover Park www.roverpark.com on 14 - 15 October. It promises to be a pretty awesome weekend with this being the first time ever it's held at Rover Park. No one ever knows what to expect but there's the rumours floating around that there'll be some very good driving stages and less weird stages, so hopefully no 'Eating wierd food' or 'playing put put'. As far as i know the only Suzuki team will be The Zukes of Hazard and they are in it for a good time, not to win, so there should be some good entertainment happening there. 'ant' from this forum is the official Videographer for the event so we should see some sneak peaks of the event, hey ant?
Anyway, if you can make it to the event, don't forget to keep an eye out for the Zukes of Hazard, but be carefull because they'll probably be after spare parts when they break their vehicles

Met at Wamuran about 8.30am, then we were off... filled up at the last servo at Colinton, then off to OCR, we took a few pics on the way in of the zooks doing some flexing for the hell of it because we knew there' wouldn't much driving over the weekend. We arrived at the campsite about... can't remember what time, after a short discussion about the days schedule, we cracked a beer and took a seat. After a few hours we collected firewood and started to get some good coals going for the feast later. We then went for a stagger up the creek from the campsite and within a few hundred metres we came to the bottom of the creek track/crack/slab. We continued up the creek taking photos of obscure things that we called art. Then came across the bus, then shrugged our shoulders and returned to camp and proceeded to drink and cook. You'll notice a lack of 4wding photos but quite a few pics of the bush and cooking, as that was really the main purpose of going there, just to get away and relax. I had an awesome weekend with plenty of laughs. We both had copious amounts of beer and raved crap for hours, while Royce whipped up some pretty cool dinner.
On the way out up to the front gate i forgot how small 30" tyres are and diffed out on a washout, and after a few attempts we used the trusty highlift jack to get the car up and off the tiny mound of dirt ... so.. we still got some recovery practice in

a few zookers went up the beach for a few days, did a bit of fishing without any success. Told a few stories around the campfire at night, and even did some driving. bla bla bla and i could rave on about it for a fair bit to fill up more space so it looks more professional but i'm too lazy at the moment. but here's a pic
